St. Luke’s HealthNow Focuses on Innovations in Pulmonary Medicine
On September 4, 2023, the 43rd episode of St. Luke’s HealthNow will air on WFMZ, Channel 69, at 6:30 p.m. The new episode will feature a discussion of pulmonary and critical care medicine.
Three professionals from St. Luke’s University Health Network (SLUHN) that specialize in pulmonary medicine and critical care will appear in this episode’s panel, including:
Deborah Stahlncker, DO
Rahul Mehta, MD
Thomas Zanders, DO
The experts will explore their specialties at SLUHN and how they use the most up-to-date technologies in their field. Key discussion points include respiratory conditions, pulmonary function testing, and new medical treatments for severe chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and emphysema. Additionally, panelists will discuss the effects of a changing climate and environment on respiratory issues, SLUHN’s partnership with Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia, and more.
“The nice thing about pulmonary and critical care is I get to see patients in all aspects of their stages of health and sickness,” said Dr. Stahlncker. “So I get to see patients in the office when they're feeling well, and then if they have problems or flare-ups in their lung disease, we can take care of them in the hospital all the way to where if they become very, very sick and end up in our intensive care unit.”
