St. Luke's HealthNow to Feature COVID-19 Pandemic Experience in Back to Back Episodes

The two episodes will feature an inside look at how St. Luke's University Health Network professionals adapted to COVID-19 conditions.

The latest episodes of St. Luke’s HealthNow will air Monday, November 23 and November 30 at 6:30 PM on WFMZ Channel 69. On November 23, COVID-19 Innovation and Ingenuity will re-air. Originally broadcast on September 7, this episode details the innovative and pivotal responses St. Luke’s staff and administration undertook early in the COVID-19 outbreak. The November 30 program, COVID-19 Experience, explores how the health network adapted to the continuing crisis to support staff, while still prioritizing patient care.

The initial pandemic episode, COVID-19 Innovation and Ingenuity, features James Balshi, M.D., Medical Director of the Vascular Center and Chief Medical Information Officer, Peter Ender, MD, Section Chief of Infectious Disease, and Eric Tesoriero, DO, Critical Care Anesthesiologist and Medical Director of Critical Care Medicine, St Luke’s Monroe Campus. The episode explores St. Luke’s use of technology and creativity applied in response to the COVID-19 pandemic and to keep the community safe. Hosted by Ashley Russo, president and executive producer of ASR Media Productions, St. Luke’s HealthNow is a co-production of ASR Media Productions and St. Luke's University Health Network

COVID-19 Experience features Chief Nursing Officer and President of the Bethlehem Campus, Carol Kuplen, RN, MSN, Jeffrey Jahre, MD, Senior Vice President of Medical and Academic Affairs and Section Chief Emeritus of Infectious Diseases, and Evan Ochs, Interim Senior Vice President of Human Resources. The pandemic follow-up episode examines St. Luke’s successful communication strategy that continues to inform and protect the community, along with the health network’s institutional knowledge and experience employed to help combat the spread of the disease.

“[At the onset of COVID-19] there was a lot of fear of the unknown,” states Stephanie Rich, RN, BSN, Bethlehem Campus ICU Patient Care Manager. “At the end of the day, being a nurse is about taking care of that person in the bed, no matter what brings them to the hospital.”

St. Luke's HealthNow complements other St. Luke's health and wellness programming including Talk with Your Doctor, a 30-minute live call-in show now in its 21st year, as well as The PEAK TV, also a co-production with ASR Media Productions, which offers viewers thought-provoking stories, tips for better health, and ways to be your best self. St. Luke's HealthNow, Talk with Your Doctor, and The PEAK TV air in rotation every Monday at 6:30 PM on WFMZ-TV Channel 69 (Service Electric channel 508 and RCN channel 1007).
