Why Producers Matter
In the world of video production, a producer is traditionally three things:
Planner
Production Coordinator
Problem Solver
Often the ones who come up with the idea for a project, a producer executes the production of a video following a detailed plan from beginning to end. They plan the who, what, when, where, why, and how. Timelines, deadlines, production notes, crew lists, coordinated talent or interviewees, locations, dates and times for shoots all make the production happen.
On location, the producer is there to coordinate - making sure all of the pieces they planned come together. They keep everyone comfortable, productive and on schedule.
If anything goes wrong on a production, a producer is there to solve any problem that arises. If a producer is exceptional at their job, you won’t even notice there was a problem in the first place.
The producers at ASR do all three of these things daily and on numerous concurrent projects. Bonus, they routinely add a 4th P that really make ASR unique and in a class by themself.
4. Partner
ASR Producers partner with our clients. In order to create a video that is exactly what the client imagined they become a member of the team, really knowing the players and the story. On set, they are partners to the production crew. Rather than give orders, they work collaboratively to develop a vision for the project. Instead of direct questions or feeding lines, ASR producers have conversations with the interviewees. This allows for a more relaxed and genuine interview. In post-production, ASR producers work as a liaison between the editor and the client. Understanding not only the client but each member of the ASR team, they are able to create an environment of collaboration and accommodation.
With an ASR producer at the wheel, all the parts of video production come together seamlessly to create something really special.
