St. Luke's HealthNow Digs Deeper Into Pediatrics and Neurosurgery
The latest episodes will explore the recent growth in pediatric and neurosurgical programs with St. Luke’s University Health Network specialists.
Two new episodes of St. Luke’s HealthNow will air in August and September. On Monday, August 30, Pediatric Specialties will discuss various pediatric practices and technology expansion throughout the network. On Monday, September 6, Advances in Neurosurgery will inform about new neurosurgical advances, minimally invasive surgery, and the St. Luke’s Brain and Spine Tumor Center. Both episodes will air at 6:30 PM on WFMZ, Channel 69.
Pediatric Specialties features St. Luke’s specialists, Jennifer Janco, MD, Chief of Pediatrics, Shaheen Timmapuri, MD, General and Pediatric Surgery, and Nicholas Grimm, DO, Pediatric Orthopedic Surgery. Hosted by Ashley Russo, president and executive producer of ASR Media Productions, St. Luke’s HealthNow is a co-production of ASR Media Productions and St. Luke's University Health Network.
“Pediatric intensive care is a great and growing field. The treatments that we offer now are completely different than what we were able to offer ten years ago,” said Christopher J. Plymire, MD, St. Luke’s Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. “We help families transition from one of the most difficult and stressful times in their life to an almost complete recovery.”
Joining Russo, Advances in Neurosurgery features St. Luke’s specialists, Doron Rabin, MD, Chief of Neurosurgery, Lee Hwang, MD, Neurological Oncology, and Justice Owusu-Agyei, MD, Neurological Surgery.
“Just a few years ago, if we had to put instrumentation in the patient’s spine, we used the X-ray machine. Later we matured to use a CT scan, then MRI, and now we're talking about robotic spine surgery,” said Owusu-Agyei. “This causes a lot of excitement in the field, but it also means safer surgery, shorter hospital stays, and quicker recoveries.”
St. Luke's HealthNow complements other St. Luke's health and wellness programming including Talk with Your Doctor, a 30-minute live call-in show now in its 21st year, as well as The PEAK TV, also a co-production with ASR Media Productions, which offers viewers thought-provoking stories, tips for better health, and ways to be your best self.
