Behind the Screen: Madison McCormac

Meet Madison McCormac, Junior Editor for ASR Media Productions. Madison always felt passionate about being behind a lens. From creating cringy but fun videos in high school with her brother to practicing photography as a hobby, Madison knew early on she was destined to be in the media productions field.

Her desire to travel and search for new opportunities led her to Kutztown University, where she initially did study secondary biology education. During her junior year, she acted (quite poorly) in one of her classmate’s short films and fell in love with the filming atmosphere. She quickly discovered her fascination with videography and switched majors.

During her junior year, she acted (quite poorly) in one of her classmate’s short films and fell in love with the filming atmosphere. She quickly discovered her fascination with videography and switched majors.

Thanks to a spring 2021 production internship with ASR Media and various school projects, Madison has valuable experience in all aspects of video production, from audio and lighting to directing and editing. While earning her degree she used her skills to develop “A Moment’s Notice,” a documentary featuring a poet, and “Any Moment,” a short narrative. While both films required hard work and dedication, she knew that if she put her heart into her work, she would excel in the media productions industry. 

Madison graduated with a bachelor’s degree in cinema, television, and media productions. Upon her May 2021 graduation, Madison joined the #ASRTeam full-time as a junior editor. 

“I enjoy filming personal stories and learning about someone’s life. Whether I’m hearing a full story or capturing only a moment in time, I have the opportunity to view the narrative from a different perspective,” reflected Madison. 

Editing allows Madison to add creative flares to productions, fulfilling her love of storytelling. But Madison feels most at home looking through the camera. She enjoys filming past-paced productions or events, thriving in environments that keep her on her toes. 

From helping set an eye-catching shot to editing the perfect soundbite, Madison has become one of ASR Media’s key storytellers. At the end of the day, she loves nothing more than seeing projects through to their ultimate conclusion - a happy client.
