ASR Media’s Top 5 Tips to Keep Projects on Schedule

As a small business with an ever-growing client list, ASR Media Productions deftly manages high-pressure situations with quick turnaround times. Over the last 9 years, the #ASRTeam has honed its ability to produce multiple videos at once, specifically thanks to an always busy fall season. Due to the many events and galas in the fall that ASR contributes to, both videos to play at events and the recaps after, ASR’s workload increases that time of year. While the team is busy filming and editing event-specific assets, they also continue to create content for both The PEAK TV and St. Luke’s HealthNow and corporate clients.

As a result, ASR continually takes a step back and reviews its best practices, evaluating what’s working and what isn’t. Relying on both the team and clients for feedback to incorporate that into best practices. We are constantly refining our systems and processes to support our employees as well as our clients. When we come up with a new system, we take the time to focus and teach and train people around it.

Here are a few organizational tips and tricks that Ashley, Katie and Krysta live by.

1. Lists, lists, & more lists

When working towards a goal, keep detailed lists of everything done - even the little things because that is the stuff often forgotten if it’s not written down. Prioritizing tasks are crucial to meeting time-sensitive deadlines. This will help establish good time management skills, too!

2. Communication is key!

Communication is critical to staying organized. It ensures everyone is on the same page and working seamlessly together. In order to be an effective and organized team, you must implement healthy habits in communication and avoid multiple one-off conversations - they only end up causing confusion!

3. Create timelines and stick to them

Take time to review and create a schedule for each week - moving items to the next week if they weren’t completed. Regularly scheduled team meetings and one-on-ones with managers cut down on chaos and one-off discussions. Following an agenda and taking meeting notes makes sure everyone stays on the same page and follow-up is even easier.

4. Close the loop!

DON’T cross tasks off your to-do-list before you follow-up. Although you did your part, that doesn’t mean the loop is closed and the project is complete. Following up assures a project is never forgotten, no matter how small.

5. Don’t live in a bubble

Your team is there to help lighten the load and get everything done, remember the motto,“many hands make light work!” Also, take time to noodle ideas with co-workers - they may have faced a similar hurdle and can assist with a quick solution or remind you of a procedure already in place.
